IT SOFTWARE SUPPORT SPECIALIST

Full Time Position:  Responsible for end-user software and technology experience and acting as the liaison between staff and third-party providers for technology requirements, as well as issue trouble shooting and resolution. Requires Bachelor’s degree or higher and at least three years related experience.  Must have working knowledge of current operating system technology such as Windows 2000/XP/7, Server 2008, Server 2012, Ubuntu Server, MSSQL, MYSQL and also TCP/IP.  Ability to create/modify databases. Will be on-call every third weekend.  Requires valid Arkansas driver’s license and clean driving record with proof of liability insurance.  Applications will be accepted through Monday, July 31, 2017. SUMMARY   Responsible for end-user software & technology experience and acting as the liaison between staff and third-party providers for technology requirements, as well as issue trouble shooting and resolution.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

 

  1. Patiently and professionally communicate technology requirements with both technical and non-technical staff and vendors; encouraging collaboration and forward progress on deliverables.
  2. Utilize diagnostic and problem-solving skills to provide excellent customer service to all stakeholders.
  3. Diagnose and resolve basic network conflicts.
  4. Provide technical support to remote users in coordination with internal IT staff and third-party software providers.
  5. Identify manual processes and translate into system development needs.
  6. Working collaboratively with Technology and stakeholders by conducting quality management reviews to review the system designs to ensure they fulfill the business requirements.
  7. Prioritizing and managing own workload to deliver complete software solutions, quality results and meet timelines.
  8. Manage testing plans and oversee process testing for software updates.
  9. Any other duties as assigned.
  10. Regular attendance is required. On-call every third weekend, minimizing overtime requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE   Bachelor’s degree or higher, At least three years related experience.  Strong understanding of PC hardware/software, remote system hardware and network structures.  Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software across multiple platforms, promptly resolving issues.  Excellent communication skills, both oral & written, and ability to work with personnel inter-departmentally.  Valid Arkansas driver’s license and clean driving record.  Working knowledge of current operating system technology such as Windows 2000/XP/7, Server 2008, Server 2012, Ubuntu Server, MSSQL, MYSQL.  Working knowledge of TCP/IP.  Advanced application of MS Office suite (Excel, Access, Word).  Knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy (e.g. adding users, changing passwords, editing permissions, creating policies etc.).  Ability to create/modify databases.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as contracts, technical specs, end user manuals, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, vendors, or co-workers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Must be able to convert binary and hexadecimal.

REASONING ABILITY  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in difficult situations.
