RECREATION DEPARTMENT: WAYPOINT AND MARINA ATTENDANT

Part Time Position – Assists with operations at The Waypoint at DeSoto Marina, a marina, coffee house, café and outdoor adventure rental facility. Responsibilities include renting paddleboards, kayaks, and boats, etc.  Food and beverage operations including specialty coffee and smoothie preparation, making sandwiches, burgers, soups, salads, and more. Assist in pumping gas; and bait and tackle sales.  Must have great public relation skills and must be willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays.  Benefits include half price golf fees and at other POA recreational amenities and free use of the Coronado Fitness Center. Summary   Assists with operations at The Waypoint at DeSoto Marina, a marina, coffee house, café, and outdoor adventure rental facility. Responsibilities include renting paddleboards, kayaks, canoes and boats, etc. Performing food and beverage operations including specialty coffee and smoothie preparation., making sandwiches, burgers, soups, salads, and more.  The menu changes with the seasons and we strive to be creative and offer new items regularly. Will perform in marina operations as described below.  Requires valid Arkansas driver’s license and clean driving record with proof of liability insurance.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  1. Facilitate or assist with any outdoor recreational program.
  2. Deliver outstanding customer service, making every effort to accommodate customer needs.
  3. Insure the safety of patrons and staff through accident prevention, enforcing all facility and recreation location rules and regulations.
  4. Respond quickly to all emergencies in the facility and administer assistance.
  5. Have a thorough knowledge of rules and regulations with regard to the instruction and proper use of recreation equipment.
  6. Collect fees or other monies from patrons
  7. May be called upon to assist with other recreational programs.
  8. Train and assist patrons in the safe use of equipment and answer basic questions about the programs or activities.
  9. Maintain a safe, clean facility and/or location at all times.
  10. Performs food service preparation with regards to café, coffee and smoothie operations.
  11. Pump gas, sell bait and tackle or assist patrons as needed.
  12. Move and launch kayaks, canoes and stand-up paddleboards by hand.
  13. Perform housekeeping, janitorial and basic building maintenance services.
  14. May be required to drive a P.O.A. vehicle or personal vehicle (with compensation) while conducting POA business.
  15. Perform other duties related to restaurant, marina operation, and recreation as assigned.
  16. Operate boats safely when needed.
  17. Regular attendance is required.

Education and/or Experience   To perform this job successfully, an individual must have an interest in outdoor recreational activities.  Must have good public relations skills.  Must be willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays.   Must have good interaction skills with property owners and visitors.

Language Skills  Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.  Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Mathematical Skills  Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.  Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations  Requires a valid Arkansas drivers license and clean driving record with proof of liability insurance.  Must be willing to enroll in classes that may be required for certification.
