PUBLIC WORKS/ UTILITIES – Water Plant MAINTENANCE WORKER I

Full Time – Works on Village water systems, and treatment plants requiring varied experience.  Some knowledge of water distribution and wastewater collection systems preferred.   Must be able to perform strenuous work in varying weather conditions.  High School diploma or general education degree; or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Requires valid Arkansas driver’s license and clean driving record with proof of liability insurance. Job Title:             Maintenance Worker I

Summary Works on Village water and sewer systems, and treatment plants requiring varied experience.  Works on Village street systems, doing unskilled to semi-skilled duties of general maintenance labor.  Will operate equipment used in maintaining water and sewer systems.  Will operate equipment used in maintaining road systems.  Requires valid Arkansas drivers’ license and clean driving record with proof of liability insurance.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  1. Load and unload trucks and carrying of heavy materials.
  2. Maintains, under direction, water distribution system, wastewater collection system, pumping, and treatment plants.
  3. Maintains roads with asphalt repairs, cutting of grass, weeds, limbs, and trees and removing cuttings, Stand as flagman when crews are working on roadway.
  4. Maintains equipment and assigned vehicles in a clean and organized condition.
  5. Maintains drainage ways.
  6. Reports problems to Supervisor in a timely manner.
  7. General electrical knowledge to assist master electrician may be required.
  8. May be required to work periodically for Sanitation/Recycling Department as trash collector.
  9. Follow all Property Owners’ Association (POA) policies and safety rules.
  10. May receive or be required to gain additional training.
  11. May be required to obtain a CDL license, drive a POA vehicle or personal vehicle while conducting POA business.
  12. Other duties as assigned.
  13. Regular attendance is required.

Education and/or Experience   High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.

Mathematical Skills   Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.  Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations   Requires a valid Arkansas driver’s license, and clean driving record with proof of liability insurance.  Must be able to obtain a D1 Distribution License from ADH within one (1) year.
