Job Title:                Public Works Laborer

Department:           Public Works

Reports To:             Field Operations Superintendent

Summary   Performs various duties within the Public Works Streets, Sanitation, and Lakes Departments depending on the assignment of the day. Works on Village roadway maintenance crews performing unskilled to semi-skilled duties of general maintenance labor.  Collects refuse and materials on sanitation routes within Hot Springs Village.  Works with Lakes Manager in maintaining Village lakes.  Requires a valid Arkansas driver’s license and clean driving record with proof of liability insurance.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  1. Gathers and carries containers from individual yards or locations along sanitation route and dumps waste from containers into truck.
  2. Assists in cleaning sanitation truck, equipment, and tools.
  3. May be called upon to assist the Lakes Department for lakes maintenance.
  4. Adhere to and be knowledgeable of Property Owners Association (P.O.A.) safety, personnel, and solid waste policies.
  5. Use tact and courtesy in dealing with the public and report complaints to crew leader.
  6. Assists in maintenance of roadways, including, but not limited to asphalt repairs, cutting of grass, weed, trees, and limbs, and the removal of debris.
  7. May be required to drive P.O.A. vehicle while conducting P.O.A. business.
  8. Regular attendance is required.

Education and/or Experience   High School Diploma preferred, but not required.

Reasoning Ability   Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.  Able to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations   Requires a valid Arkansas driver’s license and clean driving record with proof of liability insurance.
