COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

Full Time Position.   Highly motivated Communications professional to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to drive content creation, influence engagement and community management. Must have excellent communication and copywriting skills with ability to compose news-worthy content and messaging documents with creativity and persuasion. Responsibilities include research, writing, editing, and producing corporate digital and printed communication materials including publications, press releases, website blogs, and social media. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office Suite. Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, English or other relevant field and five to ten years related experience, or a combination of education and related experience. SUMMARY: The Communications Coordinator is responsible for day-to-day communications management for both internal and external target audiences and supporting the various departments with social media execution, writing/editing, media relations coordination and event management. Works closely with CEO and COO to ensure all communications properly reflect and support enterprise goals.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

 

  1. Plan and direct proactive communication programs that maintain favorable stakeholder perceptions of Hot Springs Village.
  2. Create and manage internal and external communications that ensure the consistency of corporate messaging and identity, including content for internal employee communications, the organization website, news releases for industry trade press, social media, and advertisements.
  3. Create internal corporate newsletters and communications, including soliciting content contributions and creating, proof reading, and editing content.
  4. Prepare and edit organizational publications for internal and external audiences, including press releases, e-newsletters, HSV promotional copy, speeches or other pieces, and assist in distribution.
  5. Successfully manage complex, fast-moving and unexpected communications challenges.
  6. Collaborate and coordinate with external brand marketing and public relations teams as needed to align messages, content, and internal stakeholders.
  7. Develop and execute social media strategy creating content for a variety of organizational social media portals.
  8. Provide analysis of requests, media coverage and competitive trends.
  9. Respond to requests for information from the media or other sources.
  10. Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with representatives of community, employee, and public interest groups.
  11. Serve as a liaison between the media, the public and HSVPOA.
  12. Coordinate with facility management and technical director on logistics and equipment requirements needed for key events, such as town hall meetings and annual meetings.
  13. Assist in execution as necessary of marketing, sales and public relations tactics.
  14. Attend board of directors meetings, monitoring for public relations needs and formulating proactive communication strategies for addressing those needs.
  15. Work with all departments to understand and support their communications needs.
  16. Identify cross-team impacts and communicate needs as appropriate to peers and leadership.
  17. Manage and maintain the association’s website to ensure all content is current and up-to-date, and perform routine website maintenance and social media pages.
  18. Coordinate with external web providers on website maintenance.
  19. Create, maintain and compile surveys (paper and online), perform data analysis and prepare executive summaries of survey results.
  20. Create, maintains and distributes content for message boards as needed.
  21. Perform research on various subjects for publications and presentations and provide briefings, as requested.
  22. Coordinate printing requirements and payment processing for off-site printing jobs.
  23. Perform vendor management of external publication suppliers, including estimating, budget management, creative concept and final proofing.
  24. Create graphic designs as needed.
  25. Take publication photographs using appropriate resolutions for quality work product.
  26. Video production and editing for meetings, employee events and other special events as needed.
  27. All other duties assigned.
  28. Regular attendance is required.

  11. Proficient with PC’s using Microsoft Office Suite including Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher  and Word and Frontpage. Must be proficient in Adobe applications including Acrobat Pro, Bridge, Creative Cloud, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, Publisher; InDesign, QUARK Xpress.
  12. Intermediate to advanced graphics and publication software skills.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, English or other relevant field or related field, or five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in public relations, journalism/broadcasting or publishing.
  • Familiarity with HTML and content management systems for websites.

LANGUAGE SKILLS   Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.  Ability to effectively articulate and present information and concepts to upper management, public groups, and/or boards of directors in a professional manner.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS   Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.  Ability to add and subtract and to multiply and divide.  Ability to perform these operations using units of US currency and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY   Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule format.  Ability to work multiple projects simultaneously and successfully.  Must be a creative, out-of-the-box thinker.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS    Requires a valid Arkansas  driver’s license and clean driving record with proof of liability insurance.
